CONNECTION AND INSPIRATION

Are you connected? And, what inspires you?  We just returned from the annual QuickBooks Connect conference in San Jose and I’m feeling the significance of these two words. The conference was very inspiring and a theme that came through was “connection.”

The event is hosted by Intuit (the parent company of QuickBooks, Quicken, Turbo Tax, etc.) to support its many small business users, ProAdvisors (that’s us), accountants and developers.  We’ve attended in the past, but this year was different for me.  I brought three of my team members with me, two of whom had not attended before.  They were like kids at Disneyland for the first time!  It was so fun to watch their enthusiasm as the reality of what we’d been trying to explain to them settled in.  After enjoying a hearty breakfast together, we attended our first break out sessions and got into the groove.  Then we went to the first of several main stage events and listened to Brad Smith, President, CEO and Chairman of Intuit talk about the connection we, as entrepreneurs, have as we all contribute to the local community and global economy. And to inspire us to go out and be the best that we can be.  The day rolled on with more inspiring speakers including Tyra Banks, Nate Berkus, and Shonda Rhimes, more incredible sessions, lots of tasty food, and tons of fun.  We finished up in the middle of the next day and headed home exhausted, but more connected to each other, to the Intuit community and inspired to move Sherrington Financial Fitness, Inc. to the next level.

When we returned to work on Monday we spent time reflecting and sharing our experiences.  Together we attended over 20 different sessions where we learned all about the latest advancements in our industry.  From online security to creating a niche market, from Instagram to Blockchain we gleaned a tremendous amount of information and learned about what’s coming next.  Determined to get the most out of the experience, the entire team set to work to focus the business and drive ourselves into the future.  We collaborated to revamp the company vision and mission statements so that we can know what we want to apply from all that we’ve learned and what really doesn’t fit with our company.  I’m proud to share with you here, the revised version of Sherrington Financial Fitness, Inc.
